Trainee marketing, employer branding & co. - My internship in the home office

My name is Linda, I'm 22 years old and I did a three-month internship at VEDDER in Human Resources and Marketing.

Before completing my Bachelor's degree in International Business Studies, it was important for me to do an internship to gain some initial practical experience - and I would like to share this with you today!

I started my internship on 1 October 2020. Equipped with a company laptop, my time at VEDDER began with a Zoom meeting in which my contact person Julia welcomed me to the company, gave me an introduction to all the important programmes and then went through my first tasks with me. I was to use the next few days to familiarise myself with the topic of trainee marketing and then develop a suitable strategy for VEDDER. It soon became clear that the topic of trainee marketing is really exciting! What I particularly like about it is the versatility of the subject area, the almost endless starting points and the many different impressions that you get along the way. From simple research, to analysing various studies, to the final implementation and therefore also the creation of new job advertisements and content for our social media channels and the trainee blog, everything was really involved. During my internship, I not only learnt a lot about trainee marketing, but was also able to actively participate in its implementation, which was of course particularly exciting.
I will soon have reached the end of my internship here at VEDDER. Due to Corona, this has probably been different than usual, because I have worked almost exclusively from the home office. Thanks to my varied to-do list and the flexible working hours, I was able to organise my working day independently. In addition to the other work for trainee marketing, I also dealt with the topic of employer branding during my internship, which tied in perfectly with my previous tasks.
Even after almost 3 months at the company, I am still impressed by the open-mindedness of the team and the exciting tasks that await me every day. Especially when working from home, you might think that you feel disconnected and that communication is quickly neglected. However, my experiences reflect exactly the opposite, because communication is a top priority at VEDDER and not just listed as part of the company mission statement. Despite working from home, I am in regular contact with my contact person Julia, who gives me advice and supports me with my tasks. I also have contact with colleagues from various departments through the trainee blog, learn more about VEDDER along the way and gain interesting insights into the various areas of activity. Even when working from home, you always feel well integrated and part of the whole!

MY CONCLUSION

I really only have positive things to say about my internship. In particular, I would recommend an internship at VEDDER to anyone who is looking for an established company with many years of experience and a good international image, but where you don't get lost as an intern. Because of the pleasant size and the great corporate culture, you are not just one of many here. Instead, you know each other by their first names, receive individual support and, thanks to the flat hierarchies, the entire workforce also maintains an open and relaxed relationship with each other. For me, the decision to do an internship at VEDDER was therefore exactly the right one and I am grateful to all my colleagues for the exciting time!
